1st Lieutenant Isamu Dyson is considered to be a "loose cannon". He is a man misunderstood by most. All he wants to do is fly but his recklessness and stupid behaviour has seen his career plagued by misconduct charges.
"You can't be reckless and smart"
He has had his flying license revoked on six occasions for irrational behaviour, but Isamu is a natural pilot and an efficent killer, known in the UN SPACY for his high kill ratio, he is always daring others.
"If you don't try, how do you know?"
Admired by his superiors in his effort not to be promoted, but unable to control him; he is transfered to the New Edwards Base on the planet Eden. He is assigned to the Advanced Variable Fighter, YF-19 Design Team as their test pilot; a dream come true, but he learns quickly that the rival team employ the services of an old friend and rival, Guld.
